3PEAK is proud to announce the publication of its latest research paper—GaN-Based Hybrid Switched-Capacitor Converter for 48V Power Systems—in IEEE Xplore, the world’s most authoritative technical digital library trusted by over 8 million monthly users worldwide.
This paper presents an investigation of a hybrid switched-capacitor (HSC) converter that integrates a switchedcapacitor topology with an autotransformer. The design is specifically optimized for a fixed 4:1 voltage conversion ratio. Operating in a non-resonant mode, the proposed converter substantially simplifies both the transformer structure and the overall power-stage design.
A detailed analysis of its operating principles is provided, along with the derivation of an equivalent model for the autotransformer. The analysis reveals that the leakage inductance of the transformer can effectively serve as the output filter inductance, thereby reducing the overall magnetic component volume. To validate the proposed concept, a 200−W GaN-based HSC prototype was developed, achieving a peak efficiency of 97.14%.
This publication underscores 3PEAK’s commitment to advancing power electronics innovation. We extend our sincere gratitude to our R&D team for their relentless dedication in turning cutting-edge technical visions into tangible realities.
